AN ACT REQUIRING RECIPIENTS OF CASH ASSISTANCE TO
MAINTAIN A DEDICATED BANK ACCOUNT FOR SUCH ASSISTANCE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require 1
recipients of temporary family assistance, state-administered general 2
assistance or refugee assistance to (1) maintain a bank account 3
dedicated solely to such cash assistance, and (2) use an associated debit 4
card only for purchases authorized by the Department of Social 5
Services. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To prevent recipients of cash assistance from using benefits for
illegitimate purposes.
