AN ACT REQUIRING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR MAMMOGRAMS AND ULTRASOUNDS FOR CERTAIN WOMEN AT INCREASED RISK FOR BREAST CANCER. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to require health 1 insurance coverage for mammograms and ultrasounds, not less 2 frequently than once annually and upon the recommendation of a 3 licensed physician, for each covered woman who has (1) a personal or 4 family history of breast cancer, (2) a personal history of breast disease 5 diagnosed through biopsy as benign, or (3) not given birth before 6 attaining thirty years of age. 7 Statement of Purpose: To require health insurance coverage for mammograms and ultrasounds, not less frequently than once annually and upon the recommendation of a licensed physician, for certain women at increased risk for breast cancer.
