AN ACT PROHIBITING THE POSSESSION AND TR ADE OF SHARK
FINS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2019) Any person who 1
possesses, sells, offers for sale, trades or distributes any shark fin that 2
was removed from a shark in violation of federal law shall be fined not 3
more than two thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than one 4
year, or both. The provisions of this section shall not be construed to 5
apply to any smooth-hound shark or spiny dogfish. 6
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:
