LCO No. 527 1 of 2 General Assembly Proposed Bill No. 5308 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 527 Referred to Committee on ENVIRONMENT Introduced by: REP. D'AGOSTINO, 91st Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING VEGETATION MANAGEMENT ALONG STATE HIGHWAYS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Require the Department 1 of Transportation to develop guidelines on managing vegetation and 2 removing trees along limited access highways which shall include a 3 requirement that such guidelines be reviewed and approved by a 4 licensed arborist, updated as needed, and posted on the department's 5 web site, (2) require said department to provide a copy of such 6 guidelines to the General Assembly's environment and transportation 7 committees, (3) exempt from such guidelines trees or vegetation or a 8 Department of Transportation construction project that poses an 9 immediate public hazard, and (4) require the Department of 10 Transportation to report annually, by May first, the amount of money 11 it has allocated for vegetation management for the remainder of the 12 calendar year to the General Assembly's environment and finance, 13 revenue and bonding committees. 14 Proposed Bill No. 5308 LCO No. 527 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To require the disclosure of certain information prior to the removal of trees along limited access highways.
