HAMPTON, 16th Dist. REP. SIMANSKI, 62nd Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEMS BY CERTAIN COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 14 of the general statutes be amended to require 1 commercial motor vehicles that are designed or used to transport 2 passengers or property and have a gross vehicle weight rating of ten 3 thousand pounds or more to be equipped with a global positioning 4 system capable of informing the driver of such vehicle of clearance 5 restrictions, load limits, one-way streets and traffic restrictions. 6 Statement of Purpose: To increase public safety by requiring certain commercial motor vehicles to be equipped with global positioning systems capable of providing drivers with adequate warnings of clearance, load and traffic restrictions.
