AN ACT PROHIBITING THE MISREPRESENTATION OF A DOG AS A SERVICE ANIMAL. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 46a of the general statutes be amended to provide that no 1 individual may knowingly represent, whether expressly or impliedly, 2 that a dog is a service animal or being trained as a service animal for 3 an individual with a disability, as such animal and individual are 4 defined in 28 CFR 35.104, as amended from time to time, for the 5 purpose of obtaining any rights or privileges afforded to such an 6 individual, unless such dog is a service animal or is being trained to be 7 a service animal. 8 Statement of Purpose: To prohibit misrepresentation of a pet dog as a service animal in order to receive benefits reserved for persons with disabilities.
