AN ACT CONCERNING THE DISPLAY OF NUMBER PLATES ON
MOTOR VEHICLES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 14-18 of the general statutes, concerning the 1
unobscured display of number plates on motor vehicles, be amended 2
to provide exceptions when the number plate is partially obstructed by 3
a (1) trailer hitch that is installed on a motor vehicle in a normal or 4
customary manner, (2) tolling transponder that is attached to a motor 5
vehicle in the manner required by the issuing authority, (3) wheelchair 6
lift or wheelchair carrier that is temporarily attached to a motor vehicle 7
in a normal or customary manner, (4) trailer that is towed by a motor 8
vehicle, and (5) bicycle or motorcycle rack that is temporarily attached 9
to a motor vehicle in a normal or customary manner. 10
Statement of Purpose:
To provide for certain exceptions when the number plate of a motor
vehicle is partially obstructed.
