KOKORUDA, 101 st Dist. AN ACT REQUIRING THE SUSPENSION OF CIVIL PENALTIES FOR MINOR AND UNINTENTIONAL VIOLATIONS OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE LAWS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 9 of the general statutes be amended to require the State 1 Elections Enforcement Commission to suspend any civil penalty 2 assessed against any individual for a first-time violation of any 3 campaign finance law, upon the request of such individual, if (1) such 4 violation was unintentional, (2) such violation was of a minor nature, 5 including, but not limited to, an improper contribution of less than five 6 hundred dollars, and (3) the individual takes remedial measures that 7 completely correct such violation not later than thirty days after the 8 assessment of such penalty. 9 Statement of Purpose: To permit individuals to remediate first-time, minor, unintentional campaign finance law violations without civil penalty if the remediation is done in a timely manner.
