AN ACT CONCERNING INQUIRIES ABOUT THE CRIMINAL CONVICTIONS OF A PROSPECTIVE TENANT. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That title 8 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit a landlord 1 from inquiring about a prospective tenant's criminal convictions, 2 unless (1) the landlord has made an offer of housing or conditional 3 offer of housing to the prospective tenant, and (2) the landlord's 4 inquiry is limited to criminal convictions that occurred during the 5 seven-year period immediately preceding the landlord's offer of 6 housing or conditional offer of housing. 7 Statement of Purpose: To prohibit landlords from inquiring about a prospective tenant's criminal convictions before an offer of housing or conditional offer of housing is made.
