(By Request) AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 700c of the general statutes be amended to provide that 1 no insurer, health care center, hospital service corporation, medical 2 service corporation, fraternal benefit society or other entity that 3 delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or continues a health 4 insurance policy in this state that includes prescription drug coverage 5 shall require that a health care provider prescribe a specific quantity of 6 a psychotropic medication if such quantity exceeds the quantity that 7 the provider deems appropriate. 8 Statement of Purpose: To provide that no insurer, health care center, hospital service corporation, medical service corporation, fraternal benefit society or other entity that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or continues a health insurance policy in this state that includes prescription drug coverage shall require that a health care provider prescribe a specific quantity of a psychotropic medication if such quantity exceeds the quantity that the provider deems appropriate.
