AN ACT CONCERNING THE DELIVERY OF RESPITE CARE SERVICES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 17a-218 of the general statutes be amended to provide 1 that the Department of Developmental Services shall (1) deliver direct 2 subsidies for respite care services seven days per week or at the rate at 3 which such subsidy is delivered as of January, 1, 2019, (2) give 4 preference for respite care services to persons who have not received 5 such services and persons in need of emergency placement, (3) provide 6 additional respite care services based on the geographical need of 7 families who are waiting to receive such services from the department, 8 (4) develop a staffing plan to ensure that respite care services are 9 available during high demand periods, (5) not later than July 1, 2019, 10 provide training to persons receiving respite care services in areas 11 including, but not limited to, self-care, activities of daily living and 12 personal and social adjustment, and (6) provide in-home support 13 services to persons or families who are waiting to receive services from 14 the department. 15 Proposed Bill No. 5912 LCO No. 2001 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To provide how the Department of Developmental Services delivers respite care services and in-home support services.
