AN ACT CONCERNING THE IMPROVEMENT OF CHILD 
DEVELOPMENT THROUGH PLAY. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 10-221o of the general statutes be amended to require 1 
local and regional boards of education to require that each school 2 
under its jurisdiction provide students in preschool, kindergarten and 3 
grades one to five, inclusive, at least fifty minutes in total of undirected 4 
play through two dedicated blocks of time during the school day. 5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require school districts to provide at least fifty minutes of 
undirected play in order to develop children's social skills, physical 
development and emotional well-being.
