AN ACT CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND SEASONAL AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 567 of the general statutes be amended to (1) update 1 the base wage threshold triggering eligibility for unemployment 2 benefits, (2) adjust such base wage threshold annually based on 3 inflation, and (3) exempt agricultural employers from participation in 4 the unemployment compensation system unless their employees 5 satisfy the base wage threshold for at least two consecutive quarters in 6 a calendar year. 7 Statement of Purpose: To update the basis on which unemployment benefits will be required to be paid and protect seasonal agricultural businesses from disproportionate taxation.
