AN ACT CONCERNING TH E PRESENCE OF AUTOMATE D EXTERNAL
DEFIBRILLATORS IN ALL STATE-OWNED OR LEASED BUIL DINGS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2019) On and after January 1, 2020, 1
(1) each state-owned or leased building shall provide and maintain in a 2
central location of the building at least one automatic external 3
defibrillator, as defined in section 19a-175 of the general statutes, and 4
(2) at least one person employed at such state-owned or leased 5
building shall be (A) trained in the use of an automatic external 6
defibrillator in accordance with the standards set forth by the 7
American Red Cross or American Heart Association, or similar 8
standards set forth by another organization approved by the 9
Department of Public Health, and (B) present at such state-owned or 10
leased building during normal business hours. 11
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To require that all state-owned or leased buildings contain at least one
centrally located automatic external defibrillator and one person
trained in the use of an automatic external defibrillator available in the
event of an emergency.
