AN ACT REQUIRING INDIVIDUALS WHO INSTALL SOLAR ENERGY 
SYSTEMS TO COMPLETE AN ELECTRICIAN APPRE NTICESHIP. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. Section 20-340c of the general statutes is repealed and the 1 
following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2019): 2 
The Electrical Work Board shall recommend regulations consistent 3 
with the provisions of sections 20-332 and 21a-7 to establish solar 4 
electric contractor and journeyman licenses, for solar electricity work, 5 
as defined in section 20-330, which shall be adopted by the 6 
Commissioner of Consumer Protection, in accordance with the 7 
provisions of chapter 54. Such regulations shall specify that any person 8 
who installs a commercial or residential solar energy system shall be a 9 
licensed electrician or shall be registered as an electrician's apprentice 10 
prior to installing such system. 11 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:

Statement of Purpose:   
To require individuals who install solar energy systems to complete an 
electrician apprenticeship.
