SEN. KUSHNER, 24th Dist. AN ACT REQUIRING AN INVASIVE SPECIES STAMP FOR THE OPERATION OF A MOTORBOAT ON THE INLAND WATERS OF THE STATE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require an Invasive Species 1 Stamp for any person who operates a motorboat on the inland waters 2 of the state. Furthermore, the fee for such stamp shall be fifty dollars 3 for nonresidents. Finally, all proceeds from such Invasive Species 4 Stamp shall be deposited into the Connecticut Lakes and Ponds 5 Preservation account established in section 14-21aa of the general 6 statutes. 7 Statement of Purpose: To enable Connecticut municipalities and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to prevent and respond to infestations of aquatic invasive species that negatively impact water quality, recreational use, environmental health and property values through a user-fee based approach.
