AN ACT CONCERNING THE LOW -INCOME STUDENT COUNT OF THE 
EDUCATION COST SHARING GRANT FORMULA. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That section 10-262f of the general statutes be amended to revise the 1 
definition of "number of children eligible for free or reduced price 2 
meals or free milk" by replacing the provision relating to families that 3 
meet the income eligibility guidelines established by the federal 4 
Department of Agriculture for free or reduced price meals or free milk 5 
under the National School Lunch Program, established pursuant to 6 
P.L. 79-396, with a provision relating to students who are directly 7 
certified for free or reduced-price meals through the direct certification 8 
process authorized by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, P.L. 9 
111-296, and Section 18(c) of the National School Lunch Act, 10 
established pursuant to P.L. 79-396. 11 
Statement of Purpose:   
To more accurately count low-income students for purposes of the 
education cost sharing grant formula.
