AN ACT CONCERNING THE COPYING OF PUBLIC RECORDS BY USING A HAND-HELD SCANNER. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 1-212 of the general statutes be amended to (1) modify 1 the definition of "hand-held scanner" to specify cell phones and 2 cameras, and (2) establish the following fee structure for copying a 3 public record with a hand-held scanner: Two hundred pages or less 4 would be free of charge, from two hundred one pages until five 5 hundred pages would cost ten dollars and any number of pages 6 exceeding five hundred pages would cost twenty dollars. 7 Statement of Purpose: To provide reasonable charges for when a person takes pictures of a public document with a camera or cell phone or scans public documents using a hand-held scanner.
