AN ACT PROHIBITING GOVERNMENT ENTITIES FROM TRACKING PASSENGER MOTOR VEHICLES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to prohibit any government 1 entity from using an automated number plate recognition system and 2 maintaining a record, including a video, that identifies the time and 3 location of the operation of a passenger motor vehicle, except that the 4 Department of Corrections or a law enforcement agency may use such 5 system and maintain such records in the investigation of a crime. 6 Statement of Purpose: To protect personal privacy by prohibiting a government entity from tracking passenger motor vehicles.
