AN ACT CONCERNING BREASTFEEDING IN THE WORKPLACE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 31-40w of the general statutes be amended to require 1
an employer to: (1) Make reasonable efforts to provide a lactation room 2
in the workplace and that such lactation room (A) be private, free from 3
intrusion and shielded from the public, (B) include or be situated near 4
a refrigerator where an employee can store express breast milk, and 5
(C) include access to an electrical outlet; and (2) provide breastfeeding 6
support for up to three years from the date of the child's birth. 7
Statement of Purpose:
To support women in the workforce who wish to breastfeed.
