LCO No. 3754 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 7107 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 3754 Referred to Committee on JUDICIARY Introduced by: (JUD) AN ACT CONCERNING TH E THEFT OF WASTE VEGETABLE OIL OR ANIMAL FATS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Section 53a-125 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2019): 2 (a) A person is guilty of larceny in the fourth degree when he 3 commits larceny as defined in section 53a-119, and: (1) The property 4 consists of waste vegetable oil or animal fats; or (2) the value of the 5 property or service exceeds one thousand dollars. 6 (b) For purposes of this section, "waste vegetable oil or animal fats" 7 means used vegetable oil or animal fats being stored by a school, 8 restaurant, institutional cafeteria or other institution or business for the 9 purpose of collection and the recycling of such oil or fats or the 10 conversion of such oil or fats into a biodiesel blend, as defined in 11 section 16a-21b. 12 [(b)] (c) Larceny in the fourth degree is a class A misdemeanor. 13 Raised Bill No. 7107 LCO No. 3754 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 October 1, 2019 53a-125 Statement of Purpose: To establish the theft of waste vegetable oil or animal fats as larceny in the fourth degree.
