LCO No. 4995 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 7254 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 4995 Referred to Committee on HIGHER EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT ADVANCEMENT Introduced by: (HED) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY BY THE OFFICE OF HIGHER EDUCATION REGARDING GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT RATES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2019) The Office of Higher Education, in 1 consultation with the Labor Department, shall study the rate of 2 employment for graduates of institutions of higher education in the 3 state. Such study shall include, but need not be limited to, the 4 differences in the rates of employment in various industries and the 5 identification of industries in the state in which hiring needs are not 6 being met. On or before January 1, 2020, the executive director of the 7 Office of Higher Education shall report, in accordance with the 8 provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, the findings of such 9 study to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having 10 cognizance of matters relating to higher education and employment 11 advancement. 12 Raised Bill No. 7254 LCO No. 4995 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2019 New section Statement of Purpose: To require a study by the Office of Higher Education regarding graduate employment rates.
