LCO No. 5890 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 7357 January Session, 2019 LCO No. 5890 Referred to Committee on EDUCATION Introduced by: (ED) AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF EDUCATION MANDATE RE LIEF. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) Not later than January 1, 2020, the 1 Department of Education shall conduct a study of issues relating to 2 education mandates on local and regional boards of education. Such 3 study shall include, but need not be limited to, an analysis of mandates 4 imposed on local and regional boards of education and 5 recommendations on how to revise or repeal any such mandates. The 6 department shall submit such study and recommendations to the joint 7 standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of 8 matters relating to education, in accordance with the provisions of 9 section 11-4a of the general statutes. 10 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section Raised Bill No. 7357 LCO No. 5890 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To require the Department of Education to conduct a study of education mandates imposed on local and regional boards of education.
