AN ACT CONCERNING FU NDING FOR ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS 
DISPLACED BY HURRICA NE MARIA. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. Section 19 of public act 18-81 is repealed and the 1 
following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage): 2 
The following sums appropriated in section 1 of public act 17-2 of 3 
the June special session, as amended by section 16 of public act 17-4 of 4 
the June special session, section 1 of public act 17-1 of the January 5 
special session and section 1 of [this act] public act 18-81, for the fiscal 6 
year ending June 30, 2019, shall be for the purpose of providing 7 
assistance to persons residing in the state who were displaced by 8 
Hurricane Maria as follows: (1) $400,000 to the Department of 9 
Education, for Bilingual Education, to be distributed to the top six 10 
school districts with the largest concentration of Hurricane Maria 11 
evacuees; (2) $600,000 to the Department of Housing, for 12     
Bill No.

Housing/Homeless Services, to fund security deposits and first month 13 
rent to those evacuees impacted by Hurricane Maria; and (3) $500,000 14 
to the Department of Social Services, for Human Resource 15 
Development-Hispanic Programs, as follows: $90,000 to the Hispanic 16 
Coalition Inc. in Waterbury, $90,000 to Junta For Progressive Action in 17 
New Haven, $90,000 to Family Resource Center in Hartford for 18 
Hartford Public Schools - The Welcome Center, $90,000 to Caribe 19 
Youth Leaders in [Waterbury] Bridgeport, $40,000 to Casa Boricua in 20 
Meriden, $40,000 to Human Resource Agency of New Britain Inc. in 21 
New Britain, $40,000 to YMCA of Greater Hartford, Larson Center and 22 
$20,000 to Thames Valley Council for Community Action in New 23 
London. 24 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:
