RESOLUTION PROPOSING A STATE CONSTITUTIONAL
AMENDMENT TO ESTABLISH AN INDEPENDENT COMMISSION FOR
LEGISLATIVE REDISTRICTING.
Resolved by this Assembly:
That article twenty-sixth of the amendments to the Constitution of 1
the state, as amended by article thirtieth of said amendments, be 2
amended to establish a commission for reapportionment of legislative 3
districts independent of the General Assembly, which commission's 4
membership shall include electors enrolled in the Democratic Party, 5
electors enrolled in the Republican Party, at least one member enrolled 6
in the Independent Party and at least one elector not enrolled in any 7
political party. 8
Statement of Purpose:
To establish an independent commission as the sole authority on
legislative redistricting.
