AN ACT CONCERNING COST-SHARING UNDER HEALTH
INSURANCE POLICIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to provide that no 1
health carrier that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or 2
continues a health insurance policy in this state shall charge an insured 3
for a coinsurance, copayment, deductible or other out-of-pocket 4
expense for a covered benefit in an amount that exceeds the amount 5
that the insured would have paid for the covered benefit without 6
regard to such policy. 7
Statement of Purpose:
To provide that no health carrier that delivers, issues for delivery,
renews, amends or continues a health insurance policy in this state
shall charge an insured for a coinsurance, copayment, deductible or
other out-of-pocket expense for a covered benefit in an amount that
exceeds the amount that the insured would have paid for the covered
benefit without regard to such policy.
