Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Section 8-1aa of the general statutes is repealed and the 1 following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2019): 2 As used in section 8-2: 3 (1) "Traprock ridge" means Beacon Hill, Saltonstall Mountain, 4 Totoket Mountain, Pistapaug Mountain, Fowler Mountain, Beseck 5 Mountain, Higby Mountain, Chauncey Peak, Lamentation Mountain, 6 Cathole Mountain, South Mountain, East Peak, West Peak, Short 7 Mountain, Ragged Mountain, Bradley Mountain, Pinnacle Rock, 8 Rattlesnake Mountain, Talcott Mountain, Hatchett Hill, Peak 9 Mountain, West Suffield Mountain, Cedar Mountain, East Rock, 10 Mount Sanford, Prospect Ridge, Peck Mountain, West Rock, Rocky 11 Top, York Hill, Sleeping Giant, Pond Ledge Hill, Onion Mountain, The 12 Sugarloaf, The Hedgehog, West Mountains, The Knolls, Barndoor 13 Hills, Stony Hill, Manitook Mountain, Rattlesnake Hill, Durkee Hill, 14 East Hill, Rag Land, Bear Hill, Orenaug Hills; 15 Committee Bill No. 237 LCO No. 3390 2 of 3 (2) "Amphibolite ridge" means Huckleberry Hill, East Hill, Ratlum 16 Hill, Mount Hoar, Sweetheart Mountain; 17 (3) "Ridgeline" means the line on a traprock or amphibolite ridge 18 created by all points at the top of a fifty per cent slope, which is 19 maintained for a distance of fifty horizontal feet perpendicular to the 20 slope and which consists of surficial basalt geology, identified on the 21 map prepared by Stone et al., United States Geological Survey, entitled 22 "Surficial Materials Map of Connecticut"; 23 (4) "Ridgeline setback area" means the area bounded by (A) a line 24 that parallels the ridgeline at a distance of one hundred fifty feet on the 25 more wooded side of the ridge, and (B) the contour line where a ridge 26 of less than fifty per cent is maintained for fifty feet or more on the 27 rockier side of the slope, mapped pursuant to section 8-2; 28 (5) "Development" means the c onstruction, reconstruction, 29 alteration, or expansion of a building; and 30 (6) "Building" means any structure other than (A) a facility as 31 defined in section 16-50i or (B) structures of a relatively slender nature 32 compared to the buildings to which they are associated, including but 33 not limited to chimneys, flagpoles, antennas, utility poles and steeples. 34 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 October 1, 2019 8-1aa Statement of Purpose: To protect Rocky Top and York Hill in Hamden as traprock ridges for purposes of preservation.
