AN ACT PROHIBITING REAL ESTATE CONTRACTS THAT REQUIRE 
THE USE OF SPECIFIED SERVICE PROVIDERS. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to provide that any contract 1 
regarding the conveyance of real property that is located in the state 2 
shall be void as against public policy if such contract contains any 3 
provision that requires the purchaser of real property to use a specific 4 
service provider for closing services and title insurance. 5 
Statement of Purpose:   
To prevent a seller of real property from steering the buyer to a seller's 
preferred provider for closing services and title insurance.
