AN ACT CONCERNING TH E DEPARTMENT OF DEVELO PMENTAL
SERVICES' LEVEL OF NEED ASSESSMENT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective October 1, 2019) Not later than January 1, 2020, 1
the Department of Developmental Services shall (1) analyze 2
information, policies and terminology relating to medical assessments 3
and update the department's level of need assessment, as defined in 4
section 17a-238a of the general statutes, as necessary to reflect the most 5
recent information, policies and terminology, and (2) within available 6
appropriations, consult with family members, providers and advocates 7
of persons with intellectual disability in updating the department's 8
level of need assessment. 9
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following
sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To require the Department of Developmental Services to use up-to-
date medical assessment policies and consult with families, providers
and advocates for persons with intellectual disability in its level of
need assessment.
