AN ACT CONCERNING A MUNICIPAL OPTION FOR PROPERTY TAX 
ABATEMENTS FOR ARTS AND CULTURE. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
That the general statutes be amended to permit a municipality, by 1 
vote of its legislative body or board of selectmen, to abate up to one 2 
hundred per cent of the property taxes due for any property used for 3 
arts or culture, including, but not limited to, art galleries, art studios, 4 
installation galleries, movie theaters, performance venues and retailers 5 
catering to or relating to the arts. 6 
Statement of Purpose:   
To encourage the advancement of the arts and culture by permitting 
municipalities to offer property tax abatements.
