LOONEY, 11th Dist. AN ACT PROHIBITING THE USE OF CERTAIN CONTRACTS FOR THE SALE OR LEASE OF CATS AND DOGS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to prohibit the use of contracts 1 for the sale or lease of cats and dogs if such contract requires the 2 purchaser of such animal to make payments toward the purchase of 3 such animal and such animal is treated as surety under such contract. 4 Statement of Purpose: To promote the humane treatment of pets in the state and prevent unfair consumer contracts for the purchase or lease of a cat or dog.
