AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF SERVICES TO CHILDREN BY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPISTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to (1) require the Department 1 of Children and Families to utilize Ages and Stages assessment tools 2 rather than birth-to-three evaluations in screening children thirty-six 3 months of age and younger who have been substantiated as victims of 4 abuse or neglect or who are being served through the department's 5 family assessment response program, (2) compensate schools and 6 occupational therapists providing services as part of the birth-to-three 7 program at the rate of the independent group fee schedule, (3) require 8 providers to conduct quarterly audits by submitting documentation to 9 the state verifying that clients appeared for treatment and any billing 10 associated with such treatment, (4) provide annual training to 11 providers concerning any new billing requirements, and (5) allow 12 occupational therapists working on a fee schedule to be an 13 independent group for Husky and to bill for self-care management or 14 oral motor skills. 15 Proposed Bill No. 609 LCO No. 1214 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To streamline billing practices and encourage more occupational therapists to provide services to children.
