AN ACT ESTABLISHING LIMITS ON THE WORKLOADS OF NURSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner 1
of Public Health to establish limits on the workloads of nurses licensed 2
under chapter 378 of the general statutes, which limits shall include a 3
maximum number of patients a nurse in each nursing specialty and 4
discipline may attend to during each shift and a maximum number of 5
hours a nurse may work per shift. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To create a sustainable working environment for nurses and maximize
patient safety and care.
