AN ACT PERMITTING ELDERLY PERSONS AND PERSONS WITH
PHYSICAL OR MENTAL DISABILITIES TO PERMANENTLY OPT OUT
OF JURY SERVICE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That section 51-217 of the general statutes be amended to provide the 1
Jury Administrator with the authority to allow any potential juror who 2
is over the age of seventy or who is incapable of serving as juror due to 3
physical or mental disability to permanently opt out of jury service. 4
Statement of Purpose:
To permit the elderly or those incapable of serving as jurors due to
physical or mental disability to permanently opt out of jury service.
