LEEPER, 132nd Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING WATER BOTTLE FILLING STATIONS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 173 of the general statutes be amended to require that 1 any new construction project or renovation project receiving a school 2 building project grant include the installation of water bottle filling 3 stations in the school, and that standards be developed for the 4 placement of water bottle filling stations in schools that includes, but is 5 not limited to, a requirement that there be at least one water bottle filling 6 station (1) per one hundred students, (2) on each floor or in each wing 7 or other section of a school building, (3) in all school food service areas, 8 and (4) near gymnasiums and outdoor learning and activity areas, 9 including playgrounds and athletic fields. 10 Statement of Purpose: To increase access to free, easily accessible and safe drinking water in public schools.
