AN ACT CONCERNING A MUNICIPAL TAX ON HOTEL AND OTHER
RENTAL ACCOMMODATION STAYS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to authorize municipalities to 1
impose a tax on the total amount of rent, for transfers of occupancy not 2
exceeding thirty consecutive calendar days, received by a hotel, lodging 3
house and bed and breakfast establishment located in the municipality. 4
The revenue generated from such tax shall be dedicated to providing 5
public safety services in the municipality. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To authorize municipalities to impose a tax on hotel, lodging house and
bed and breakfast stays and dedicate the revenue generated to
providing public safety services in the municipality.
