AN ACT CONCERNING TH E REGIONAL ADOPTION OF ATLANTIC 
STANDARD TIME. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. Section 1-6 of the general statutes is repealed and the 1 
following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2021): 2 
[The] (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, the 3 
standard of time for the seventy-fifth meridian west of Greenwich shall 4 
be the standard of time for this state, except that the standard of time of 5 
this state shall be one hour in advance of such established time from two 6 
o'clock ante meridian on the second Sunday in March until two o'clock 7 
ante meridian on the first Sunday in November.  8 
(b) Upon the enactment of legislation in the states of Massachusetts, 9 
Rhode Island and New York adopting Atlantic standard time, the 10 
Governor of this state shall forthwith apply to the United States 11 
Secretary of Transportation to change the standard of time for this state 12 
to Atlantic standard time. If such application is approved by the 13 
secretary, the standard of time for this state shall be Atlantic standard 14 
time. 15

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections: 
 
Section 1 October 1, 2021 1-6 
 
Statement of Purpose:   
To require the state to adopt Atlantic standard time upon the enactment 
of legislation in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York adopting 
said time and federal approval of such change.
