AN ACT CONCERNING MAMMOGRAMS AND COST TRANSPARENCY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require a health care 1 provider to: (1) Disclose to a patient who undergoes a mammogram 2 whether an additional test proposed to further investigate the results of 3 the mammogram is an elective health care service; and (2) (A) disclose 4 to a patient who undergoes a mammogram whether the cost of an 5 additional test proposed to further investigate the results of the 6 mammogram is covered by the patient's health insurance policy, or (B) 7 provide a patient who undergoes a mammogram with an opportunity 8 to determine whether the cost of an additional test proposed to further 9 investigate the results of the mammogram is covered by the patient's 10 health insurance policy. 11 Statement of Purpose: To require a health care provider to disclose to a patient whether any additional testing performed following a mammogram is an elective procedure, and require the health care provider to disclose whether the cost of such additional testing is covered by the patient's health Proposed Bill No. 5916 LCO No. 1711 2 of 2 insurance policy or provide the patient with an opportunity to determine whether such cost is covered by such policy.
