AN ACT CONCERNING ELIGIBILITY FOR UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS AND SEASONAL AGRICULTURAL BUSINESSES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 567 of the general statutes be amended to (1) update the 1 base wage threshold triggering eligibility for employment benefits, (2) 2 adjust such base wage threshold annually based on inflation, and (3) 3 exempt agricultural employers from participation in the unemployment 4 compensation system unless their employees satisfy the base wage 5 threshold for at least two consecutive quarters in a calendar year. 6 Statement of Purpose: To update the basis on which unemployment benefits will be required to be paid and protect seasonal agricultural businesses from disproportionate taxation.
