AN ACT CONCERNING SURGICAL SMOKE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require each hospital with 1 surgical services and each ambulatory surgical center to adopt and 2 implement, on or before January 1, 2023, a policy that requires the 3 elimination of surgical smoke via the use of a surgical smoke evacuation 4 system during any surgical procedure that is likely to generate surgical 5 smoke. 6 Statement of Purpose: To protect surgeons, operating room personnel and patients from the dangers of surgical smoke.
