AN ACT REQUIRING LONG -TERM CARE FACILITIES TO DEVELOP A PLAN FOR RESPONDING TO OUTBREAKS OF INFECTIOUS DISEASE AND OTHER SITUATIONS THAT RESULT IN A REDUCTION IN STAFFING CAPACITY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to require all providers of 1 congregate long-term care facilities to develop and submit to the 2 Departments of Public Health, Mental Health and Addiction Services or 3 Developmental Services, as appropriate, for approval, an infectious 4 disease outbreak plan that is customized to each facility on national 5 best-practice standards for infection control, that includes, among other 6 clinical and administrative components, documentation of the means 7 through which the facility will secure and provide orientation to 8 supplemental or replacement staff in the event that an infectious disease 9 outbreak or another emergent or nonemergent situation that reduces the 10 facility's staffing capacity. 11 Proposed Bill No. 6000 LCO No. 2425 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To ensure all long-term care facilities develop plans to address outbreaks of infectious disease and other situations that reduce staffing capacity.
