LCO No. 5096 1 of 2 General Assembly Committee Bill No. 6121 January Session, 2021 LCO No. 5096 Referred to Committee on COMMERCE Introduced by: (CE) AN ACT CONCERNING A WORKFORCE DEVELOPMEN T PIPELINE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) The Department of Economic and 1 Community Development shall develop a plan to establish a workforce 2 development pipeline program for persons with disabilities, which shall 3 incentivize businesses to provide training programs, offer modified 4 interviews and reserve market-rate, full-time jobs for persons with 5 disabilities. Such plan shall be developed not later than September 1, 6 2021, and provide for implementation of such plan not later than July 1, 7 2022. Not later than December 1, 2021, the Commissioner of Economic 8 and Community Development shall submit recommendations for any 9 requisite legislative proposals for the implementation of such plan to the 10 joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of 11 matters relating to commerce. 12 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 from passage New section Committee Bill No. 6121 LCO No. 5096 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To require the Department of Economic and Community Development to develop a plan to establish a workforce development pipeline for persons with disabilities.
