AN ACT CONCERNING TH E AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER 
ADVISORY COUNCIL. 
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 17a-215d of the general statutes is 1 
repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2 
2021): 3 
(b) The council shall have [two] up to three chairpersons, one of 4 
whom shall be the Commissioner of Social Services, or the 5 
commissioner's designee, and [one] two of whom shall be elected by the 6 
members of the council and shall be: (1) A person with autism spectrum 7 
disorder appointed pursuant to subdivision (10) of subsection (a) of this 8 
section, (2) a parent or guardian of a child with autism spectrum 9 
disorder appointed pursuant to subdivision (11) of subsection (a) of this 10 
section, or (3) a parent or guardian of an adult with autism spectrum 11 
disorder appointed pursuant to subdivision (12) of subsection (a) of this 12 
section. The council shall make rules for the conduct of its affairs. The 13 
council shall meet not less than four times per year and at such other 14 
times as requested by the chairpersons. Council members shall serve 15  Raised Bill No.  6320

without compensation. 16 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections: 
 
Section 1 July 1, 2021 17a-215d(b) 
 
Statement of Purpose:   
To add a greater voice for persons with autism spectrum disorder and 
their families on an advisory council.
