AN ACT CONCERNING INSPECTIONS BY LOCAL FIRE MARSHALS AND A DISPOSAL AND REPLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR FIREFIGHTING FOAM THAT CONTAINS PERFLUOROALKYL OR POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That (1) section 29-305 of the general statutes be amended to 1 authorize a member of a fire unit, in addition to a local fire marshal, to 2 conduct inspections of buildings and facilities in accordance with the 3 provisions of subsection (b) of section 29-305 of the general statutes, (2) 4 chapter 541 of the general statutes be amended to establish a pilot 5 program to train and permit a lower class of fire inspectors to conduct 6 inspections of residential buildings designed to be occupied by at least 7 three families but not more than six families, and (3) the general statutes 8 be amended to establish a state-funded disposal and replacement 9 program for firefighting foam that contains a perfluoroalkyl or 10 polyfluoroalkyl substance. 11 Statement of Purpose: To (1) authorize a member of a fire unit, in addition to a local fire marshal, to conduct certain fire inspections, (2) establish a pilot program Proposed Bill No. 6367 LCO No. 2535 2 of 2 to train and permit other fire inspectors to conduct inspections of residential buildings designed to be occupied by at least three families but not more than six families, and (3) establish a state-funded disposal and replacement program for firefighting foam that contains a perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl substance.
