LCO No. 2690 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 6390 January Session, 2021 LCO No. 2690 Referred to Committee on INSURANCE AND REAL ESTATE Introduced by: (INS) AN ACT CONCERNING HE ALTH INSURANCE REIMB URSEMENT PARITY FOR PODIATRISTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2022) No insurer, health care 1 center, hospital service corporation, medical service corporation, 2 fraternal benefit society or other entity that delivers, issues for delivery, 3 renews, amends or continues an individual or group health insurance 4 policy providing coverage of the type specified in subdivisions (1), (2), 5 (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 of the general statutes in this state on 6 or after January 1, 2022, shall pay a reduced reimbursement to a licensed 7 health care provider who provides a covered benefit within such 8 provider's scope of practice solely because such provider is a podiatrist. 9 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 January 1, 2022 New section Raised Bill No. 6390 LCO No. 2690 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To provide that a health insurer shall not pay a reduced reimbursement to a licensed health care provider who provides a covered benefit within the provider's scope of practice solely because the provider is a podiatrist.
