LCO No. 3167 1 of 2 General Assembly Raised Bill No. 6415 January Session, 2021 LCO No. 3167 Referred to Committee on ENERGY AND TECHNOLOGY Introduced by: (ET) AN ACT REQUIRING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES REGULATORY AUTHORITY TO ADOPT R EGULATIONS FOR NATURAL BARRIER PRESERVATION AND MAI NTENANCE BY ELECTRIC DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2021) (a) For purposes of this 1 section, "natural barrier" means trees, shrubs, bushes or other vegetation 2 between the facilities of an electric distribution company, as defined in 3 section 16-1 of the general statutes, and any residential neighbor to such 4 facility. 5 (b) On or before January 1, 2022, the Public Utilities Regulatory 6 Authority shall adopt regulations, in accordance with chapter 54 of the 7 general statutes, requiring the preservation and maintenance of existing 8 natural barriers by each electric distribution company. The Public 9 Utilities Regulatory Authority may initiate a proceeding to consider the 10 implementation of such regulations.11 Raised Bill No. 6415 LCO No. 3167 2 of 2 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2021 New section Statement of Purpose: To require the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority to adopt regulations ensuring electric distribution companies preserve and maintain existing natural barriers.
