Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioner of Social 1 Services shall conduct a study to determine whether (1) there is a 2 sufficient number of nursing homes in the state, and (2) the services 3 offered by such nursing homes meet the need for long-term care. 4 (b) The study conducted pursuant to subsection (a) of this section 5 shall include, but need not be limited to, a report on: (1) Decreases or 6 increases in total nursing home population annually for fiscal years 2016 7 to 2020, inclusive; (2) state budget expenditures on nursing home care 8 in each of said fiscal years; and (3) whether any programmatic or 9 legislative changes are needed to better serve adults in need of 10 institutionalized care. 11 (c) Not later than July 1, 2022, the Commissioner of Social Services 12 shall report on the results of the study done pursuant to subsection (a) 13 of this section, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the 14 general statutes, to the joint standing committees of the General 15 Raised Bill No. 6457 LCO 2612 {\\PRDFS1\HCOUSERS\BARRYJN\WS\2021HB-06457- R01-HB.docx } 2 of 2 Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to aging and human 16 services.
