SUMMARY The bill eliminates the inactive Interagency Council on Affordable Housing (see BACKGROUND) and makes a conforming change to remove an obsolete requirement that the Department of Housing (DOH) commissioner, in consultation with the council, review state housing programs and submit a one-time report to the Housing and Appropriations committees. The bill also makes technical changes. EFFECTIVE DATE: Upon passage BACKGROUND Interagency Council on Affordable Housing PA 12-1, June Special Session, established DOH and made it the lead agency responsible for all housing matters. The act also created the Interagency Council on Affordable Housing to advise and assist the DOH commissioner in the planning and implementation of the department.
