Researcher: JP Page 1 4/15/21 OLR Bill Analysis sHB 6573 AN ACT CONCERNING THE COMMISSION FOR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY. SUMMARY This bill adds four members to the 20-member Commission for Education Technology (see BACKGROUND) as follows: 1. a representative of the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents, 2. a representative of the Connecticut Educators Computer Association, 3. a secondary school teacher designated by the Connecticut Education Association, and 4. an elementary school teacher designated by American Federation of Teachers–Connecticut. The bill also makes technical changes. EFFECTIVE DATE: July 1, 2021 BACKGROUND Connecticut Commission for Educational Technology (CET) CET oversees the management and integration of technology in the state's schools, libraries, colleges, and universities. It is comprised of 20 appointed members that represent the interests of the CET ’s constituents in K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and libraries. The commission’s responsibilities include designing and managing the State Educational Technology Goals and Plan.
