Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2021, and applicable to any cause of 1 action arising from a criminal proceeding terminating prior to, on or after said 2 date) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 52-577 of the general 3 statutes, no action to recover damages for malicious prosecution may be 4 brought later than three years from the date of the termination of the 5 criminal proceeding that is the subject of such action. 6 This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: Section 1 July 1, 2021, and applicable to any cause of action arising from a criminal proceeding terminating prior to, on or after said date New section Raised Bill No. 6592 LCO No. 4371 2 of 2 Statement of Purpose: To allow a claim for malicious prosecution to be brought no later than three years from the date of the termination of the criminal proceeding that forms the basis for such claim.
